Welcome DeWitt Bands Boosters

The DeWitt Band Boosters is an IRS Code 501 (c)(3) organization established to support the instrumental music programs in DeWitt Public Schools.  DeWitt offers instrumental music programs in grades 6-12 including an award winning Marching Band along with Jazz, Symphonic, Concert and Pops bands.  Students learn under the tutelage of on-staff instructors plus contracted instructors to focus on refining skills for students at all grade levels.  One of the finest pleasures is hearing how quickly student’s skills improve as they play and learn from our outstanding educators.

Our Marching Band performs in various parades in DeWitt, including the Ox Roast, Christmas Light and Memorial Day Parades.  You’ll see them at all home football games and, when the football team goes deep into the playoffs, at road games as well.  We also perform in the Michigan Competing Bands Association (MCBA) Championships.  The Marching Band has a history of earning sufficient points to participate in the MCBA State Finals at Ford Field.

Our other bands perform in public concerts throughout the year and periodically in judged events.  The band season culminates in May with the increasingly popular Pops Concert in the DHS Auditorium where the Pops Band performs with the choral music program to packed houses.

Membership in the Boosters consists of parents of current students and alumni.  We raise funds to support our efforts through Band Camp fees, hosting the annual DeWitt Marching Festival, a Scrap Metal Drive, selling our world-famous Dutch Apple Pies and a highly popular Craft Show and Silent Auction.  All our revenues are directed back into the school programs.  The Boosters’ fundraising covers:

   •  Outside Instruction

   •  Marching Show Music/Drill Writing

   •  Music Technology

   •  Marching Band Uniforms

The Boosters is an entirely volunteer organization run by a Board of Directors including a President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer.  A variety of event and program chairs round out the Board membership.  Meetings are held regularly throughout the year.  Parent meetings are held periodically to keep parents abreast of developments and needs within the program.  Parents and students alike are strongly encouraged to volunteer in support of the activities that enhance the educational opportunities available to students in DeWitt.
